F2 - Green Corduroy

[the late green corduroy flares with curtain-material gores]As featured on our front page, these were the first pair of trousers to be converted. Originally bought at New Look as plain green corduroy jeans, they were worn extensively. After a while, it was decided to convert them into flares, by the addition of a large panel of white, floral, kitchen-curtain material. A further small patch of this material was also added inside one of the knees to cover up an accidental hole. Following their conversion, these trousers were again worn extensively. They drew attention and started conversations. Really, people ask you all sorts of questions and seem really impressed when you say you made them yourself. Just the individuality of it seems to impress most people.

Over time, the flares grew thin and weak in places, and were for a long time almost too damaged to wear, but not quite. Then, the day this photo was taken, a really quite large, unmendable hole was discovered in the seat, and the trousers were officially, albeit painfully, laid to rest. But their pioneering influence lives on, and they are preserved for ever on this site.
